5 simple steps to be more sustainable

Being eco-friendly isn’t that hard, in theory, but unclear and inconsistent information combined with our hectic lifestyles can make it a bit of a challenge.

Ever wondered what you personally can do to be more environmentally conscious that fits in with your day-to-day life? Read on for our five simple steps to be more sustainable without the stress!

1. Buy once, buy well - think about cost per use rather than the price tag

When you buy high quality items that will last a long time, you save money and the environment by reducing the amount of waste in the world. This applies to everything from furniture to shoes. That’s why we make our leggings to such a high standard of quality - you’ll be wearing them for years to come so the cost per use will be tiny!

2. Swap, donate or sell old or unwanted items

The phrase ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ has never been more true! Help keep products out of landfill by swapping with a friend, donating to a charity shop or even earn a bit of cash by selling through eBay, Depop or any of the other platforms out there.

3. Recycle and reuse

Most of us are familiar with separating our recycling from our rubbish (make sure you check the packaging to see what can be recycled!) but don’t forget there are lots of things that you might not think about that can be recycled too! Clothes are a good example - check to see if there is a local centre that can recycle your textiles.

Did you know? We will recycle your Lacuna Fit leggings for you once they’ve eventually worn out! Contact us to find out more.

4. Buy recycled or biodegradable goods

A simple switch in the supermarket can help a lot. There are a lot of recycled and biodegradable products out there now, from toilet paper to toothbrushes

5. Ditch the excess packaging

A lot of supermarkets are doing a great job of increasing the loose produce section for items like fruit and veg, so make sure to bring your own bags

For items bought online, obviously some packaging is needed to make sure your products arrive in perfect condition, however you can check to make sure that the packaging is minimal and as sustainable as possible.

We use biodegradable, recycled packaging with no unnecessary plastic bags to minimise our impact. You can also be creative with re-using our paper bags - check out how we turned one into a grow-bag!
